The Pandemic has forced people to learn new and different coping skills. We have all had to adapt, adjust and re-calibrate expectations as the structure and habits that make up our lives has changed. In a word, we have all had to be more resilient.

Resilience describes our ability to deal with, navigate through, and bounce back from difficult times. It also includes developing the ability to reach out for help as necessary and to build a network of support. Resilience is a unique type of strength, perseverance or grit that we can learn and cultivate, just like you would any other skill. It requires what is known as a “growth mindset” instead of a “fixed mindset.”

Each week for the period of one month, we will look together at one area of resilience to see where you are strong and where you could use some support. In week one, we will look at how you have overcome the difficulties of the past. In week two, we explore how you are steering through life at the present moment, as you manage your thoughts, emotions, behaviors and spiritual self. Week three looks at how we can understand neuroplasticity to continue bouncing back from tough stuff, each time with less heartache and a bit of grace. And finally, in the last week, we bring it altogether to see how to celebrate our successes as well as how to reach out for help, whether that be in terms of human resources or books/articles/videos to remember to keep the process going.
